BODACIOUS BLOSSOMS
Updated 03-03-25:

The Classic Curve Rulers - designed by Color Girl Quilts (www.colorgirlquilts.com) -  have been updated and revised in sizing since this pattern was printed.  In order to use the ruler (instead of cutting your shapes with the enclosed paper template A & B shapes) you will either need to have the original smaller Classic Curves ruler (with shapes sizes ranging from 4” to 8-1/2”) or the newly released Classic Curve Ruler Plus (with shapes ranging from  4” to 13-1/2”).   NOTE:  The newly revised SMALLER Classic Curve Ruler will not work as the size only goes to 8” and the pattern shapes for this pattern require them to be cut at 8-1/2”.

IF USING THE ENCLOSED PAPER PATTERN SHAPES (THAT CAME WITH THE PATTERN):  No changes to the pattern are required. Follow the cutting directions on pages 3-4 for the Flower Center Background L-Shapes and for the Background L-Shapes.  The squares for the L-shape should be cut at 10” x 10”  for Template B just as written in the pattern.

IF YOU ARE USING THE ORIGINAL (no longer available) CLASSIC CURVE RULER (with sizes from 4” to 8-1/2”): No changes to the pattern are required. Follow  the cutting directions on pages 3-4 for the Flower Center Background L-Shapes and for the Background L-Shapes. The squares for the L-shape should be cut at 10” x 10” for using the ORIGINAL CLASSIC CURVE RULER just as written in the pattern.  Follow closely the cutting directions for Making L-Shapes that are included with the Original Classic Curve Ruler.

HOWEVER, IF YOU ARE USING THE NEWLY DESIGNED CLASSIC CURVE RULER PLUS (with sizes from 4” to 13”):  Make the following changes to the Flower Center Background L-Shapes and for the Background L-Shapes cutting instructions on page 4:. The squares for the L-shape should be cut at 9” x 9” to make the L-shapes.  Follow closely the cutting directions for Making L-Shapes that are included with the Classic Curve Ruler Plus.

COLOURSTRUCK
Updated 07-29-22:

If using just (10) 3/8 yard Colored Fabrics - cut the following. You will end up with more 7-1/2” squares for the Color Streak than needed - repeat your favorite colors when making the squares needed for the color streak and reserve the excess squares for a another project. As above you will also end up with more strips for the inner border and binding than needed - if desired, cut the strips down to 27” and audtion the sequence around your quilt so more colors can be used. Refer to the Cutting Instructions on page 1 of the pattern for the total number of squares and strips required for the quilt size you are making.

COLOURBUGS

Updated 03-24-21:

1)  Page 3 - Step #3-4 - Clarification & TIP: - Figs 2 & 3 (please orientate the wing units before slicing off outer corners so that the 6-1/4" edge is running north to south) - see diagram below:

2) Page 4 - Step #8 - please delete ...."your unit should measure approximately 6-1/2" x 10...".  This measurement is not needed.  Just trim the top edge of the bug body even - taking off the least amount of fabric you can.

3)  Page 6 - Fig 21: Clarification & TIP:  When placing the background triangle Right Sides Together on the Antenna Strip and angling it - the  background triangle should extend at least 1" above and 1" below the antenna strip.  When placing the second background triangle on the other side of the antenna strip, the bottom tips of the 2 background triangles should overlap each other (as indicated in Fig 21).

4) Page 7 - Figs 27-28:  The antenna tips do not necessarily need to match in the direct center - they can be wonky...this gives the bugs 'personality' (see picture below):

MODBOX

Added 05-10-21:

Background Fabrics/Cutting - PAGE 2 & CUTTING DIAGRAM INSERT:  When cutting your background fabrics (specifically the individual strips from the background fabrics), please cut strip lengths UNFOLDED to get the maximum cuts from each strip.

Also there was an error on our first version of the cutting diagram insert for the Lap Quilt - the directions and diagrams  in the pattern on pages 2-3 are correct though - please download the new Cutting Diagram Insert for ModBox here - specifically for the Lap Quilt only you should cut (21) 2.5" x12.5" strips (not 10.5" as the old cutting insert says) from Background Fabrics #1 & #2 (see page 2 of pattern).

 MODBLOSSOM

Added 12-01-19:

1. Page 4- Step #3-b:  Cutting the Background Fabric for the Flower Blocks - delete  "Cut (12) 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" squares" - you will not need these. Patterns that were mailed after December 15, 2019 have been corrected and already have this step deleted.

2. Pages 3-4:  When cutting out template shapes C & B from strips of fabric, be sure to cut the shapes with the strip UNFOLDED and right side up.

3. REVISE Template D - the outer hashmarks (either side of the center hashmark) are incorrectly placed and need to be moved an additional 1/4" further away from the center hashmark. Please refer to the reference photo here  or download a New Template D by clicking here.
