When I want to emulate the look of beautiful needle turn appliqué, this is the product that I use to create my template shapes. This is a 50 sheet pack. I turn the edge of my fabric to the wrong side after cutting the shapes from Stable Stuff and then I leave it in. I zigzag around the shape with Superior Threads MonoPoly and then soak the block in water afterwards. The Stable Stuff dissolves and the appliqué looks hand needle turned and is soft and supple!
Invented by Ricky Tims, Stable Stuff is a versatile, multi-purpose, polyester-based stabilizer. You can tear it away - or not! You can leave it on the underside of your work. If you wet or wash your finished project, Stable Stuff® Poly becomes a fine, soft layer of unnoticeable polyester fibers inside your project. Use Ricky Tims' Stable Stuff Poly for applique', embroidery, foundation piecing, and more. It comes prepackaged in fifty 8.5" x 11" sheets ready to go for use in a copy machine, ink jet printer or laser printer! Guidelines for use are included.
